Student Veterans Center at FSU
The Student Veterans Center at Florida State is the hub of the university's veteran-support programs and resources. Veterans, active military, National Guard and Reserve personnel, and veteran/military dependents receive assistance with their federal educational benefits through the SVC. Moreover, the Student Veterans Center works to initiate, cultivate and sustain relationships between veteran/military students and the general student population.
In addition, Florida State offers veteran/military students:
- Orientations sessions – in-person or online – with important pre-enrollment information
- A Strategies for Veteran Success course, available at no cost or to earn one academic credit
- Veteran Liaisons within administrative and academic units throughout campus
- The Veterans Lounge at the SVC, which includes a computer lab, meeting rooms and social space
- A monthly gathering of veteran/military students at the SVC’s First Friday Feast
- An active and engaged chapter of Student Veterans of America
- A voice in Student Government through the Veterans Student Union and Congress of Graduate Students
- On-campus VA counseling services through the Vet Success on Campus program
- Military Appreciation Games conducted by numerous university athletic teams
- An annual Veterans Military Ball
- A special pre-graduation event where the university president awards graduating veteran/military students with honor cords and commemorative coins
